Day Care Center
In Amaguana, Ecuador, Grupo visited Hermanitas that were struggling with operating a Day Care Center for children aged four years and younger. The number enrolled was 34. Grupo hired one additional teacher which allowed the enrollment to exceed 72. Most mothers are single parents and needed to work to support the home. Without a safe environment for the children during the day, the mothers would lock the children in their apartments until they returned from work for fear of child abduction.
In 2014 construction was completed on a two level building with 3 shops on the street level to be leased which will provide funds to support the Day Care CenterOperations. There are three classrooms on the upper level. The enrollment today approaches 140 children.
